BRATISLAVA, Dec. 9 (Xinhua) -- Komarno Basketball Club won its seventh straight match in the Slovak Basketball premiership SBL, edging out BKM Lucenec 85-82 on Wednesday.

The battle for the second spot in the standings between Lucenec and Komarno was a tough one. The visitors built an 11-point lead in the second period, but Lucenec erased it in the third. The final period saw both teams take turns in grabbing the lead but Komarno succeeded to stretch its winning streak to seven.

In the clash between the first and the last SBL team, visiting BC Prievidza saw home team Levice Patriots turn up the ante after an evenly-matched first half and build a 20-point lead in the third. Levice cruised to a comfortable 111-81 victory in the end. Prievidza's American point guard Joshua McFolley carried his team with 27 points but was not able to avert the eighth consecutive defeat.

MBK Banik Handlova moved to the fourth spot in the standings, tying Lucenec with 6 wins and 5 losses after overcoming the fifth-ranked Spis Knights 72-69 in the 12th round match.

In the capital city, Iskra Svit beat Inter Bratislava 92-84 to grab the sixth spot in the league. Bratislava's Portorican point guard Ivan Gandia-Rosa had the best night of the season, scoring 34 points and grabbing 7 rebounds. Enditem
