BRATISLAVA, Jan. 5 (Xinhua) -- Kosice Hockey Club climbed to the fifth spot in the Slovak ice-hockey premiership Tipos Extraliga after achieving the third consecutive victory on Tuesday, crushing newcomer HK Spisska Nova Ves 5-1 in an away game in the 31st round.
Kosice Hockey Club claimed the comfortable 5-1 victory thanks to five different scorers. The visitors got a flying start against Spisska Nova Ves, scoring with the first two shots on goal in the first period.
After that, the team never looked back.
Tenth-ranked Banska Bystrica entered the new year on a high note, firing on all cylinders and crushing HK Poprad 7-3.
Third-ranked HK Nitra had to tie the game against penultimate HC Nove Zamky three times before taking the lead in the final period and bringing home a 6-3 triumph.
