British stocks up 0.47 pct Friday

LONDON, Jan. 7 (Xinhua) -- British stocks rose on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index up by 0.47 percent, or 34.91 points, to close at 7,485.28 points.

Anglo American, a globally diversified mining business, soared 2.94 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. BHP Group and Prudential increased by 2.69 percent and 2.68 percent, respectively.

Diageo, a British multinational alcoholic beverages company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 2.61 percent. B&M European Value Retail, a British variety store chain, dropped 2.23 percent. Spirax-Sarco Engineering, a multi-national industrial engineering group, fell 2.09 percent. Enditem
