NEW YORK -- Oil prices retreated on Thursday after the latest U.S. fuel inventory report painted a mixed picture.

The West Texas Intermediate for February delivery lost 52 cents, or 0.6 percent, to settle at 82.12 U.S. dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange. UNITED NATIONS -- UN humanitarians on Thursday condemned increasing violence and the slaying of an aid worker in al-Hol, the largest camp for displaced people and refugees in Syria.
