BEIRUT, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- Lebanon on Friday registered 6,811 new COVID-19 cases, raising its total number of infections to 808,612, the Health Ministry reported.

Meanwhile, death toll from the virus went up by 15 to 9,353.

The President of the Syndicate of Private Hospitals Suleiman Haroun said on Friday that most COVID-19 beds in Lebanon's hospitals are currently busy while emphasizing the need by citizens to adopt more serious precautions in the fight against the pandemic, according to Elnashra news website.

Lebanon accelerated its vaccination campaign in hope to reach herd immunity as the current financial crisis weighed heavily on hospitals' capacity to receive COVID-19 patients. Enditem
