LONDON, Jan. 14 (Xinhua) -- British stocks decreased on Friday, with the benchmark FTSE 100 Index down by 0.28 percent, or 20.90 points, to close at 7,542.95 points.
Standard Chartered, a British multinational banking and financial services company, soared 2.31 percent, the top gainer of the blue chips. British American Tobacco, a tobacco group, and Lloyds Banking Group, a major British financial institution, increased by 1.95 percent and 1.85 percent, respectively.
Royal Mail, a postal service and courier company, was the worst performer in the blue chips, with its shares losing 5.64 percent. B&M European Value Retail, a British variety store chain, dropped 5.33 percent. Ocado Group, an online grocer, fell 4.87 percent. Enditem
