BRATISLAVA, Feb. 12 (Xinhua) -- Tomas Matousek scored the fastest goal of the season as Slovan Bratislava Hockey Club stretched its lead in the Slovak ice hockey premiership Tipos Extraliga standings to five points with a 3-2 overtime victory over HK Dukla Trencin.
Matousek needed just six seconds to score the opener on Friday, and Michal Beno scored his second Extraliga goal with his hard one-timer, giving HC Slovan Bratislava a 2-0 lead just three minutes into the first period in Trencin.
Trencin managed to answer just 50 seconds later and pushed the game into overtime in the final period. The visitors scored the game-winner by the American forward Andrew Yogan.
Canadian forward Dante Salituro and Slovakian goalie Marcel Melichercik were key to Spisska Nova Ves' 3-0 victory over second-ranked Zvolen. Salituro scored two and Melichercik achieved his third shutout of the season with 29 saves, moving their team up one spot to seventh place tying sixth-placed Poprad with 55 points.
HC Nove Zamky's two goals in the second period provided a promising lead in Nitra, but the home team managed to tie things up in the third period. Lubomir Fetkovic brought the lead back to Nove Zamky after the home team made a mistake behind the goal, setting the final score at 3-2.
Elsewhere, HK Dukla Michalovce beat HC Grotto Presov 2-1 to inch closer to the top three on the standings. HK Poprad lost its third in a row, falling 3-2 to bottom side Liptovsky Mikulas. Enditem
