SEOUL -- South Korea's presidential election campaigning officially kicked off on Tuesday for a 22-day run ahead of the election to be held on March 9.

A total of 14 candidates are competing for the South Korean presidency of a single five-year term, according to the National Election Commission.

During the campaigning period, candidates are allowed to make speeches in open spaces with loudspeakers, distribute leaflets about campaign pledges, and do the ad campaigns on TV and radio. (South Korea-Election)

PHNOM PENH -- The Asian Development Bank (ADB) has approved 95 million U.S. dollars in loan for the Cambodian government to purchase COVID-19 vaccines from 2022 to 2023, it said in a press statement on Tuesday.

"The project will help Cambodia save lives by reducing the number of severe COVID-19 cases and accelerate the country's economic recovery from the pandemic," said ADB senior social sector specialist Rikard Elfving.

In addition to the Asia Pacific Vaccine Access Facility (APVAX) loan, the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB) is expected to provide co-financing of 50 million U.S. dollars subject to approval of their Board of Directors, the statement said. (Cambodia-ADB-Loan)

JAKARTA -- Indonesia's trade balance surplus in January 2022 was recorded at 930 million U.S. dollars, with an export value of 19.16 billion dollars and imports valued at 18.23 billion dollars, the Statistics Indonesia (BPS) has said.

Indonesia has posted its trade balance surplus in 21 consecutive months, BPS Deputy for Statistics of Distribution and Services Setianto told a virtual press conference in Jakarta on Tuesday. (Indonesia-Trade Surplus-January)

MACAO -- The preliminary estimate of Macao's foreign exchange reserves amounted to 216.6 billion patacas (about 26.97 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of January 2022, the special administrative region's (SAR) monetary watchdog said on Tuesday.

The latest statistics from the Monetary Authority of Macao indicated that the reserves increased by 1.1 percent from the revised value of 214.2 billion patacas (about 26.66 billion dollars) for the previous month.

Macao's foreign exchange reserves at the end of January 2022 represented 11 times the currency in circulation or 89.0 percent of pataca M2 at the end of December 2021. (Macao-Forex Reserves) Enditem
