BEIRUT, March 8 (Xinhua) -- The Lebanese army is facing difficult challenges due to the economic crisis and seeks more support from other countries, Lebanon's Armed Forces Commander Joseph Aoun said on Tuesday.

"We are going through a very critical stage which requires great awareness from us," Aoun said during his inspection of the Marine Commandos Regiment in the Byblos town of Amchit, 40 km north of the capital Beirut, the National News Agency reported.

Aoun added that the Lebanese military is capable of fulfilling its full duties and responsibilities despite all the challenges thanks to the soldiers' determination and loyalty.

Lebanon's military has been facing serious challenges amid the ongoing financial crisis, and several countries including China, Egypt, France and Jordan have already sent military donations to the country. Enditem
