MANILA -- The Philippines has loosened entry restrictions for all fully vaccinated foreign nationals visiting the country starting this month, the Philippines' Bureau of Immigration said on Wednesday.

In an advisory, which was effective immediately and signed by Immigration Commissioner Jaime Morente, foreign nationals coming from visa-required countries and regions need to secure an "entry exemption document" before visiting the Philippines. (Philippines-COVID-19-Border Opening)

SYDNEY -- Australia's national carrier Qantas announced on Wednesday that it would increase weekly flights to New Zealand as the neighboring country brought forward its reopening date to next month.

From April 13, Qantas and its subsidiary Jetstar would run a total of 30 return flights per week between a number of cities in Australia and New Zealand.

The number of flights would be further increased as travel is expected to ramp up into the middle of 2022. Before the pandemic, 170 return services ran between the two countries each week. (Australia-Qantas-New Zealand)

PHNOM PENH -- Cambodia is well-positioned for recovery in 2022 thanks to its outstanding progress with its vaccination campaign, according to a new Asian Development Bank (ADB) report released on Wednesday.

Titled Southeast Asia Rising from the Pandemic, the report said the country's performance in vaccinating its population has been outstanding, far exceeding the performance of countries with similar populations and income levels, which has enabled the government to ease restrictions and reopen its borders. SEOUL -- South Korea reported a record high of 400,741 new COVID-19 cases as of midnight Tuesday compared to 24 hours ago, raising the total number of infections to 7,629,275, the health authorities said Wednesday.
