WARSAW, March 24 (Xinhua) -- Austrian coach Alexander Pointner will not take the offer of the Poland ski jumping team as he didn't reach a financial agreement with the Polish Ski Association.

The Poles are seeking coach Michal Dolezal's successor after the team didn't meet the expectations at the Winter Olympics. In Beijing, the Polish ski jumpers won just one medal thanks to Dawid Kubacki, who pocketed a bronze on the normal hill.

Pointner was on the top of the list of possible candidates, but no mutual agreements were made due to financial reasons.

"Due to the outdated budget, I would have to accept many compromises in the general concept, which also included work with young athletes and women," Pointner claimed on Thursday.

"Sorry Poland, maybe it will work at a later date. Thanks for years of support. You are (next to the Austrians) the best fans in the world," the coach wrote on his social media account.

Dolezal's contract with the Polish Ski Association is valid until the end of the season. The director of the federation Adam Malysz is not satisfied with the result achieved by the team but it is still possible for the Czech coach to sign a new deal as the athletes would like to continue working with him.

Another candidate to lead the Poles is Austrian Thomas Thurnbichler. Enditem
