NEW YORK -- COVID-19 cases are rebounding in New York State as the BA.2 sub-variant of Omicron contributes to the majority of infections.

UNITED NATIONS -- The UN mission in Mali is investigating reports of civilians killed during clashes last week between government troops and militants, a UN spokesman said on Monday.

Published reports vary in the number of civilian deaths, but they do agree the number is in the hundreds. They said the army of Mali engaged with militants believed associated with the Islamic State or al-Qaeda, known to be in the area. (UN-Mali-Civilians-Killing)

KIEV -- Ukrainian President Volodymyr Zelensky has signed a decree to approve the composition of a Ukrainian delegation for the talks with Russia over security guarantees, the Ukrainian president's press service said Monday.

BEIRUT -- Lebanon's Deputy Prime Minister Saade Chami on Monday announced "the bankruptcy of the state and the Central Bank of Lebanon," al-Jadeed local TV channel reported.
