Singapore reports 3,472 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, April 20 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 3,472 new confirmed cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 1,170,970.

Among the total infections, 3,324 were local transmissions with 148 being imported cases.

Of the new local cases, 320 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 3,004 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

A total of 269 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with eight in intensive care units.

Two more deaths were reported from COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the death toll to 1,319, the ministry said. Enditem
