GABORONE, April 22 (Xinhua) -- To give an impetus to its economic recovery and transformation plan, Botswana has with immediate effect realigned its administrative mandate, President Mokgweetsi Masisi announced Thursday.

These reforms, aimed at eliminating duplication and overlapping of portfolios, will translate into enhanced service delivery, accountability and good governance for all people of Botswana, Masisi said in his televised statement on the rationalization of the southern African country's portfolio responsibilities.

Masisi introduced four new ministries under his government: State President; Entrepreneurship; Communication, Knowledge and Technology; Justice. They were formed as a result of splitting or merging responsibilities of previously existing ministries.

According to Masisi, this comprehensive reorganization of Botswana's machinery further encompasses state-owned enterprises with a view of doing away with the cumulative impact on the running costs of Botswana, as well as on the efficiency and effectiveness of its public sector.

Meanwhile, Botswana has established a national planning commission that will be responsible for national development forecasting and prioritization of policies and projects, as well as providing governance oversight of implementation process. Enditem
