ANKARA, April 28 (Xinhua) -- Turkey and Armenia will hold the third round of normalization talks in the Austrian capital Vienna on May 3, the Turkish Foreign Ministry announced Thursday.

Turkey appointed ambassador Serdar Kilic as the special representative, while Armenia dispatched Deputy Speaker Ruben Rubinyan for the talks, the ministry said in a written statement.

The first meeting between Turkish and Armenian envoys was held in Moscow on Jan. 14 and the second was in Vienna on Feb. 24.

In February, the two neighbors resumed charter flights between Istanbul and Yerevan.

Turkish Foreign Minister Mevlut Cavusoglu and his Armenian counterpart Ararat Mirzoyan met on March 12 in Turkish southwestern resort city of Antalya, expressing their willingness to continue to normalize ties.

Relations between the two countries were severed in 1993 during the first war between Armenia and Azerbaijan over the disputed region of Nagorno-Karabakh when Turkey closed the border with Armenia in support of Azerbaijan. Enditem
