YAOUNDE, May 5 (Xinhua) -- Hundreds of people held a protest demonstration against the terror group Boko Haram in Cameroon's Far North region on Thursday, according to local police.

The protesters, mostly from the Tourou locality of the region assembled at the government office in Mokolo to demand the intensification of government efforts to stop the atrocities of the terror group.

"Tourou has been suffering from Boko Haram since 2014. Killings and kidnappings almost every day and the atrocities have increased recently. We want the government to maintain peace," one of the protesters, Souleyman Mohamed told Xinhua.

Over a dozen people have been killed and close to 20 people kidnapped in Tourou locality in the last one month, according to security reports. Enditem
