Brunei reports 265 new COVID-19 cases as inbound visitors start ART self-reporting

BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, May 10 (Xinhua) -- Brunei reported 265 new COVID-19 cases on Tuesday, bringing the national tally to 143,372.
Among the new cases, 260 cases were self-reported antigen rapid test (ART) results and five cases were results of 355 polymerase chain reaction (PCR) laboratory tests performed in the past 24 hours.
The health ministry said that starting from Tuesday, passengers arriving at the Brunei International Airport are allowed to perform ART tests by themselves upon arrival.
Each passenger will be given three ART kits upon arrival to be used on the day of arrival, on Day 2 and Day 3, and must upload the results of each test to BruHealth, a local health tracking application.
As a country of 420,000 people, Brunei has recorded less than 1,000 new cases for 48 straight days since March 24 after the daily increase reached its peak of 4,885 cases on March 3 during the third wave of infections.
As of May 9, 66.7 percent of Brunei's population have received three doses of COVID-19 vaccines.
The COVID-19 vaccines from Pfizer, BioNTech, Moderna, AstraZeneca, and China's Sinopharm are administered in Brunei.
Currently, 1,192 active cases are being treated and monitored in Brunei, where 141,961 recoveries from COVID-19 have been reported. Enditem
