HANOI, May 13 (Xinhua) -- Vietnam's gross domestic product (GDP) is projected to grow by 6 percent in 2022, Vietnam News Agency cited the International Monetary Fund (IMF) as reporting on Friday.

Inflation will rise, but will still be lower than the ceiling set by the State Bank of Vietnam of 4 percent, the news agency cited Resident Representative of the IMF for Vietnam Francois Painchaud as saying.

Vietnam has issued macro-economic and fiscal policies to support households and businesses affected by COVID-19, but the recovery has been unbalanced as it was mainly driven by the processing and manufacturing sector and export since pandemic restrictions were relaxed, he said at a forum on the forecast of Vietnam's economy from 2022 to 2023 on Thursday.

Vietnam recorded year-on-year GDP increases of 2.58 percent in 2021 and 5.03 percent in the first quarter of 2022, according to the country's General Statistics Office. Enditem
