NAIROBI, May 26 (Xinhua) -- The Central Bank of Kenya (CBK) on Thursday opened its Chinese-built tower, the CBK Pension Towers which is located at the heart of the country's capital city of Nairobi.

China Wu Yi Co. Ltd constructed the modern iconic architecture which consists of twin towers that reach a height of approximately 110 meters.

The building comprises two inter-connected office blocks, where the tallest tower is 27 stories while the other one is 24 floors above the ground.

President Uhuru Kenyatta said that with the addition of the skyscraper in Nairobi, Kenya has acquired a new building whose design is bold and distinct while officially opening the landmark CBK Pension Towers.

Kenyatta noted that the building has incorporated green technology through the use of solar power to light the towers.

Dominic Mwenja, Chairman Board of Trustees of the CBK Pension Fund, said that the building forms part of a portfolio of assets that retirees of the apex bank will enjoy in retirement.

Mwenja observed that the contractor was able to overcome the difficulty caused by the COVID-19 supply chain disruptions to complete the project on time.

He revealed that the property development is designed to rely on solar power during the day as it will be powered by sunshine.

According to the CBK, the building's design coupled with the aesthetics displayed by glass makes the building stand out to change the identity of Nairobi city.

Prior to the development of the iconic structure with its curved architectural design, there was an existing building that was built on the same site in the 1960s. Enditem
