VILNIUS, May 29 (Xinhua) -- The 49th International Folklore Festival "Skamba skamba kankliai" wrapped up here in the Lithuanian capital on Sunday.

Traditionally held on the last weekend of May, the festival is one of the few authentic ethnic music festivals in Europe that has become an annual feast for Lithuanian folklore fans.

During the four-day festival, people from local folklore groups sang Lithuanian multipart polyphonic songs while dancing in traditional clothes and accessories in courtyards, gardens, parks, churches and art halls.

Dressed in traditional costume, Elena, a student from Vilnius University's folklore ensemble "Ratilio," told Xinhua that her group is one of the biggest and its members are mostly students or graduates from the Vilnius University.

Greta Andriuskaite, Communication Coordinator of Vilnius Ethnic Culture Center, told Xinhua that this year the festival offers over 30 different events.

Artists and guests from Ireland, Norway, Poland, Latvia, and Greece were invited to perform at the festival. "It's nice to have all these guests here because we can share our traditions, they can show their traditions and we can see the differences between different countries," she said.

Music games for children, ethnic films, fairs and creative workshops were also presented during the festival. Enditem
