GAZA, June 15 (Xinhua) -- Palestinian youths took part in circus arts performances held in Gaza City on Tuesday evening, as part of the activities of the Circus and Dabke Festival launched by the municipality.

Children and adults enjoyed the cheerful atmosphere while watching and trying the performance of Dabke, a folk dance, and Palestinian circuses, which are held in partnership with a team of Italian artists.

"This festival is the culmination of years of specialized training in the circus field," Nader Muslim, director of the Gaza Circus Stars School, told Xinhua.

"The Italian team has been visiting the country annually since 2015 to train us on everything new in the circus world, and how to use the hop and rope walk," he added.

He explained that the circus training aims to alleviate the psychological pressures that Palestinians suffer from due to the difficult reality they live in.

For her part, Italian circus coach Martina said she came to Gaza as part of a visiting group to train Palestinian youth in circus arts.

"We are here to help the Palestinians in Gaza practice these arts as a relief. We are interested in training the young men and women in Gaza," she said, noting the years of blockades of Gaza have deprived them of joy and happiness.

The Italian team has been moving across towns and cities in Gaza for days to promote the art and teach young people to form their own teams and have fun. Enditem
