Singapore reports 5,862 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 5,862 new cases of COVID-19 on Wednesday, bringing the total tally to 1,383,952.

Of the new cases, 473 cases were detected through polymerase chain reaction (PCR) tests and 5,389 through antigen rapid tests (ARTs), according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 440 were local transmissions and 33 were imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, 4,805 were local transmissions and 584 were imported cases.

A total of 322 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 12 cases in intensive care units.

No new deaths were reported from COVID-19 on Wednesday, leaving the death toll unchanged at 1,405, according to the ministry. Enditem
