AMMAN, June 22 (Xinhua) -- Jordan and Saudi Arabia on Wednesday urged Israel to stop all "illegal actions" that undermine the two-state solution and the chances of achieving a fair peace.

In a joint declaration issued at the conclusion of a visit to Jordan by Saudi Arabian Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman Al Saud, the two countries stressed the need to launch an international effort to realize a political horizon to resolve the Palestinian cause based on the two-state solution.

In the statement published by the state-run Petra news agency, both sides noted that Israel must respect the historical and legal status quo in Jerusalem and its Islamic and Christian holy sites.

The joint statement also reiterated that the security of the two kingdoms is intertwined.

The two sides emphasized the importance of continuing cooperation in electricity interconnection between the kingdoms and enhancing cooperation in the field of energy efficiency.

On regional issues, the two Arab countries underlined the importance of scaling up efforts to realize a political solution to the Syrian crisis, ending the interference that threatens Syria's identity, unity, and sovereignty.

They also agreed on the need for supporting international efforts to prevent Iran from acquiring nuclear weapons. Enditem
