Pakistan's daily cases of COVID-19 surpass 500

ISLAMABAD, June 29 (Xinhua) -- An uptick in new COVID-19 cases in Pakistan consistently continues as the country reported over 500 new daily cases for the first time in three months, according to the figures released by the National Institute of Health on Wednesday.

A total of 541 new cases of the disease were detected during the last 24 hours across the country.

The overall tally of the infected people climbed to 1,535,144 across the country after adding the fresh cases, according to data released by the ministry.

A total of 30,393 people died of COVID-19 in Pakistan, with one more death over the last 24 hours, according to the ministry's statistics.

On Tuesday, 15,462 tests were conducted throughout the country while the positivity rate stood at 3.50 percent.

Currently, there are 100 active cases in critical condition in the South Asian country.

The ministry said that after a slight change in the number of new cases in some cities of the country, mask-wearing has been made mandatory on all domestic flights, railways and public transport. Enditem
