SYDNEY, July 4 (Xinhua) -- China registered another lop-sided victory over Chinese Taipei in their final match of the first round in the FIBA World Cup Asian qualifiers, winning 97-56 in Melbourne on Monday.

China had previously overwhelmed Chinese Taipei 94-58 on Friday.

Du Feng's team immediately showed their dominance in Melbourne's John Cain Arena, taking a 20-point lead in the first quarter.

Chinese Taipei struggled to find any weaknesses in China's defense and continued to slip behind in the first half, with the half-time score sitting at 26-55. Chinese Taipei was unable to close the huge gap in the second half.

China's 26-year-old center and former NBA player Zhou Qi led the way with 16 points and 10 rebounds.

China will now look to its upcoming games in the 2022 FIBA Asia Cup in Indonesia, where it will face South Korea, Bahrain and Chinese Taipei in just over a week. Enditem
