LAGOS, July 5 (Xinhua) -- Nigeria's private airline, Air Peace, will start direct flights to Guangzhou, China, and Mumbai, India, in a move to expand connections on the Asian continent.

The airline, in a statement issued on Tuesday, said the first flight of the once-weekly flights from Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub, to Guangzhou is scheduled for July 13, and two-weekly flights to India later this month, as it hopes to increase frequencies when operations garner momentum.

According to the statement, these new destinations were further testimony to the airline's determination to connect Nigerians seamless to other parts of the world and deepen socio-economic ties between Nigeria and both countries.

"Air Peace is unflinchingly committed to reducing the air travel burden of Africans, and we will continue to grow our route network as well as modernize our fleet strategically," said Stanley Olisa, the airline spokesperson, in a statement sent to Xinhua.

The air line has accomplished so much in just seven years of operation, as it now has a network of 20 domestic routes, seven regional routes and two international destinations, including Dubai and Johannesburg, which it launched in 2019 and 2020, respectively.

Apart from its Asia expansion move, the airline also disclosed that its Israel operations kick-off is underway.

Olisa also mentioned that the airline is working on two more African destinations: Malabo in Equatorial Guinea and Kinshasa in the Democratic Republic of the Congo.

The airline presides over an optimal, mixed, modern fleet of over 30 aircraft, including five brand new Embraer 195-E2s, and has the largest fleet in West and Central Africa, according to the spokesperson. Enditem
