OTTAWA -- The Public Health Agency of Canada (PHAC) confirmed a total of 477 cases of monkeypox in the country as of Wednesday.

PHAC provided an update on these confirmed cases which included 284 cases from Quebec, 156 from Ontario, 29 from British Columbia and eight from Alberta. (Canada-Monkeypox)

UNITED NATIONS -- UN Secretary-General Antonio Guterres on Wednesday hailed what he called "substantive progress" in ensuring the export of Ukrainian food products through the Black Sea.

"Today in Istanbul, we have seen a critical step forward to ensuring the safe and secure export of Ukrainian food products through the Black Sea," he told reporters at the UN Headquarters in New York. "In a world darkened by global crises, today, at last, we have a ray of hope -- a ray of hope to ease human suffering and alleviate hunger around the world, a ray of hope to support developing countries and the most vulnerable people, a ray of hope to bring a measure of much-needed stability to the global food system." ZAGREB -- Fire broke out in three Croatian areas, one in Zadar County and two in Sibenik-Knin County, on Wednesday and about 20 houses were burned down in Sibenik-Knin County where the fire was the worst but with no casualties.

"Approximately 20 houses have been burned down," Darko Dukic, commander of the Fire Brigade of Sibenik-Knin County, told the national television RTL. (Croatia-Fire)

LAGOS -- Six people were killed and 65 others injured in a windstorm-triggered disaster in Nigeria's northern state of Jigawa, the emergency management agency said on Wednesday.

The windstorm wreaked havoc on the Kafinhausa local government area of the state on Tuesday and destroyed several houses, said Yusuf Sani, head of the Jigawa State Emergency Management Agency, in a statement issued in Dutse, the state capital. (Nigeria-Windstorm) Enditem
