ADDIS ABABA, July 19 (Xinhua) -- Ethiopia's tax revenue hit 336.71 billion birr (about 6.43 billion U.S. dollars) during the Ethiopian 2021/2022 fiscal year which ended on July 7, an Ethiopian official said Tuesday.

Ethiopian Minister of Revenues Lake Ayalew said 3.75 billion U.S. dollars were from domestic taxes, while 2.68 billion U.S. dollars were collected from customs revenue in the 2021/2022 fiscal year, according to a press statement from the Ethiopian Ministry of Revenues.

Ayalew said the 6.43 billion U.S. dollars revenues earned during the 2021/2022 fiscal year showed an increase of 20.59 percent compared to the previous fiscal year.

The Ethiopian Minister of Revenues also said the increase in revenue during the 2021/2022 fiscal year was achieved despite various parts of the East African country suffering from conflict and the conflict-induced economic slowdown.

The Ethiopian Ministry of Trade and Regional Integration on Friday disclosed the country earned 4.12 billion U.S. dollars from exports in the 2021/2022 fiscal year, with the export revenue increasing by 500 million U.S. dollars compared to the previous fiscal year. Enditem
