KABUL -- At least four people were wounded in an explosion at a sport stadium during a cricket match in Kabul, capital of Afghanistan, on Friday, according to an eyewitness.

Four people were wounded in the blast, Nasib Khan Zadran, an organizer of the match, told local media, adding that no one, including players and foreigners attending the match, was killed in the blast. (Afghanistan-Explosion-1st LD)

ISLAMABAD -- As heavy monsoon rains continue to lash various parts of Pakistan, the National Disaster Management Authority (NDMA) on Friday issued an alert for the Chenab River in the country's eastern Punjab province.

The authority said in a statement that water flows in the Chenab River will reach "medium to high flood" within the next 24 hours, advising concerned civil administrations to people living along the banks of the river and in the vicinity of adjoining nullahs about the expected increase of water flows. TOKYO -- The average life expectancy of Japanese women and men decreased for the first time in a decade in 2021 as the country struggled with the COVID-19 pandemic, health ministry's statistics showed Friday.

The average life span for Japanese women was 87.57 years, down by 0.14 year compared to a year earlier, while that of men was 81.47 years, down by 0.09 year, according to the health ministry. (Japan-Life Expectancy)

MUMBAI -- India's west coast state-owned Jawaharlal Nehru Port Authority (JNPA) on Friday entered into a concession agreement with a consortium of JM Baxi Ports and Logistics Ltd and CMA Terminals to operate the container terminal, which was so far being handled by JNPA itself.

Among the five container terminals in JNPA, two of them are operated by Dubai's DP World, while APM Terminals and India's state-owned Container Corporation of India consortium manage the third one followed by Singapore's PSA operating the fourth one. (India-Container Terminal) Enditem
