RIO DE JANEIRO, July 31 (Xinhua) -- Vitor Bueno converted a second-half penalty as Athletico Paranaense climbed to fourth in Brazil's Serie A championship with a 1-0 home win over Sao Paulo on Sunday.

Bueno broke the deadlock in the 69th minute against his former club after Joao Moreira brought down Agustin Canobbio in the area.

The strike was enough to secure Athletico's 10th win of the campaign as they advanced to 34 points from 20 matches, eight points behind leaders Palmeiras. Sao Paulo are 10th, eight points further back.

In Porto Alegre, Mauricio Prado struck two first-half goals to lead Internacional to a 3-0 home win over reigning champions Atletico Mineiro.

Wanderson Campos was also on target for the hosts as Inter snapped a three-game winless run and moved to sixth in the 20-team standings with 33 points. Atletico are a point further back and are winless in their past three league outings.

In other Brazilian Serie A fixtures on Sunday, America Mineiro won 3-1 at home to Avai, Fortaleza prevailed 1-0 at Cuiaba and Bragantino prevailed 1-0 at Juventude. Enditem
