MEXICO CITY, Aug. 5 (Xinhua) -- Defender Oswaldo Alanis scored late as Mazatlan clinched a 2-1 home win over 10-man Guadalajara in Mexico's Liga MX on Friday.

Following a first half of few opportunities for either team, the tone changed abruptly on the hour mark when Ruben Gonzalez was dismissed following a rash challenge that earned him a second yellow card.

Emilio Sanchez gave the hosts the lead shortly afterwards when he headed home after Yoel Barcenas' cross.

Guadalajara equalized through Angel Zaldivar, who bundled home from close range after he had a penalty attempt saved by goalkeeper Miguel Jimenez.

Mazatlan regained the lead three minutes from time courtesy of Alanis' long-range effort.

The result leaves Mazatlan 15th in the 18-team standings with six points from seven games, one point ahead of 16th-placed Guadalajara. Enditem
