RIO DE JANEIRO, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Goals in each half from Lazaro and Gabriel Barbosa gave Flamengo a 2-0 away victory over Sao Paulo in Brazil's Serie A championship on Saturday.
Lazaro put the visitors ahead by heading home in the seventh minute at the Morumbi stadium.
Barbosa doubled the lead with a cool finish after Everton Ribeiro's pass on the counterattack.
The result lifted Flamengo to third in the 20-team standings with 36 points from 21 matches, six points behind leaders Palmeiras. Sao Paulo dropped to 11th, 10 points further back.
In other fixtures on Saturday, Ceara drew 1-1 at Botafogo, America Mineiro won 1-0 at Juventude, Atletico Goianiense won 2-1 at home to Bragantino and Corinthians drew 1-1 at Avai. Enditem
