MEXICO CITY, Aug. 6 (Xinhua) -- Arturo Gonzalez scored a hat-trick as Monterrey moved to the top of Mexico's Liga MX standings on Saturday with a 5-1 home victory over Leon.
The 27-year-old Mexico international striker netted twice in the first half before adding a third goal in the 71st minute.
German Berterame also scored twice for the hosts while Byron Castilo was on target for the visitors.
The result lifts Monterrey to 16 points from seven matches, one-point clear of second-placed Tigres UANL. Leon are ninth in the 18-team standings, seven points off the pace.
