SINGAPORE -- Singapore reported 3,541 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total tally to 1,763,116.

Of the new cases, 348 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 3,193 through ART (antigen rapid test) tests, according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health. (Singapore-Coronavirus)

MANILA -- The Philippine Statistics Authority (PSA) on Monday revised its gross domestic product (GDP) growth rate in the first quarter to 8.2 percent from 8.3 percent.

The PSA cited real estate and ownership of dwellings, revised from 7.9 percent to 5.9 percent, as the major contributors to the downward revision.

Meanwhile, the PSA said the growth rate in gross national income in the first quarter also recorded a downward revision from 10.7 percent to 10.6 percent. (Philippines-GDP-Growth)

JAKARTA -- U.S. electric carmaker Tesla Inc. has signed a deal worth 74.5 trillion rupiahs (5 billion U.S. dollars) to buy nickel products from two Indonesian producers, a minister said Monday.

"The contracts are applicable for five years with two companies operating in the Morowali regency (Central Sulawesi province). The nickel materials will be used for Tesla's lithium batteries," Coordinating Minister for Maritime Affairs and Investment Luhut Binsar Pandjaitan said in a virtual discussion.
