CAIRO -- At least nine people were killed and 18 others injured on Saturday when a microbus overturned on a highway in Upper Egypt's province of Minya, said the Egyptian authorities.

"The accident took place in the early hours of Saturday as a result of excessive speeding, which led to the explosion of the front tire of the microbus and caused it to overturn several times," Minya Governor Osama Al-Qady told Xinhua. (Egypt-Traffic Accident)

VIENNA -- Three people were killed on Saturday after a van smuggling 20 migrants overturned near the Austrian town of Kittsee, local police said.

The victims, two men and a woman, were passengers on the van. Another seven passengers were seriously injured and have been hospitalized, according to local police.

The accident happened when the driver of the van tried to evade a police check at a border crossing, reported the Austrian news agency APA. (Austria-Kittsee-Accident)

TEHRAN -- Iranian Foreign Minister Hossein Amir-Abdollahian on Saturday warned Washington against using "language of threat" against the Islamic republic.

"History ought to have taught the United States that language of threat against Iran and Iranians achieves nothing," Amir-Abdollahian tweeted.

BAGHDAD -- Iraq announced on Saturday that it had received 50 prisoners who were militants of the Islamic State (IS) captured earlier in Syria.
