Singapore reports 2,665 new COVID-19 cases

SINGAPORE, Aug. 15 (Xinhua) -- Singapore reported 2,665 new cases of COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the country's total tally to 1,796,734.

Of the new cases, 271 cases were detected through PCR (polymerase chain reaction) tests and 2,394 through antigen rapid tests (ART), according to statistics released by the Ministry of Health.

Among the PCR cases, 244 were local transmissions and 27 imported cases. Among the ART cases with mild symptoms and assessed to be of low risk, there were 2,264 local transmissions and 130 imported cases, respectively.

A total of 569 cases are currently warded in hospitals, with 20 cases in intensive care units.

One death was reported from COVID-19 on Monday, bringing the total death toll to 1,560, the ministry said. Enditem
