Kyrgyz security services detain jihadists

BISHKEK, Aug. 26 (Xinhua) -- Three members of the Kyzyl-Kiya jamaat of jihadists have been detained in the southern Batken region of Kyrgyzstan, the press service of the country's State Committee for National Security reported on Thursday.

Among the detainees is the leader and spiritual mentor nicknamed Abu Nur, who is also responsible for the combat and physical training of the members of the jamaat. All the detainees are natives of the Kyzyl-Kiya town.

According to data of security services, Abu Nur's criminal group has carried out a series of robberies over several years in order to provide financial assistance to accomplices -- militants of international terrorist organizations in Syria.

Three grenades, ammunition, knives, as well as a large number of electronic media and religious literature were seized after searches at his places of residences. A ballistic examination recognized the seized ammunition was as combat. Enditem
