DAMASCUS -- A Syrian military chopper crashed Sunday in the central province of Hama, killing its crew, said the Syrian army.

LAGOS -- At least two bodies were recovered from the rubble of a seven-story building under construction that collapsed in Lagos, Nigeria's economic hub, in the early hours of Sunday, an official told Xinhua.

KAMPALA -- Four people were confirmed dead after torrential rains caused mudslides in southwestern Uganda, relief agencies said Saturday.

The four bodies were retrieved during search operations after the rains destroyed 10 rural houses in the district of Bundibugyo, where flash floods hit five sub-counties, according to the Uganda Red Cross Society and a local relief agency. (Uganda-Mudslide-Rains)

VLADIVOSTOK -- Six people died in an accident while climbing the Klyuchevskaya Sopka volcano in Russia's Kamchatka peninsula on Saturday.
