Four injured in school bus crash north of Tokyo

TOKYO, Sept. 5 (Xinhua) -- Four people were rushed to hospital following a bus carrying high school students and a mini-vehicle colliding in Japan's Ibaraki Prefecture on Monday, local media reported.

According to emergency responders, the driver of the mini-vehicle is in a serious condition and was unconscious when rushed to hospital following the crash that occurred northeast of Tokyo on Monday morning.

Three students who were on the school bus sustained injuries and were conscious when they were taken to hospital from the crash site on a prefectural road in Sakuragawa City, local police and firefighters said.

Police are investigating the cause of the collision and said the accident occurred on a straight section of a road with one lane on each side, local reports said.

More than 10 people were aboard the bus operated by Iwase Nihon University High School at the time of the collision, local media said. Enditem
