YAOUNDE, Sept. 6 (Xinhua) -- Cameroon has launched its first center to provide online guidance and counseling for secondary school children, the country's Minister of Secondary Education Pauline Nalova Lyonga Egbe said Tuesday.

"It's an innovation. We have introduced a helpline which will treat not just educational problems but also career problems students cannot solve," the minister said at the launch of the center in Yaounde, the capital of Cameroun.

Yenese Mirabel Kunyi Atanga, a senior guidance counselor at the center, said many students have psychological, social, and vocational problems and don't know where to turn. "Unfortunately, not all Cameroonian schools have counselors. This platform will help them," he added.

Officials said this innovation will significantly improve students' performance as counselors will help them respond properly to their reactions and engage in psychological adjustment and self-learning. Enditem
