James, Falcao headline Colombia squad for friendlies

BOGOTA, Sept. 15 (Xinhua) -- Olympiacos midfielder James Rodriguez and Rayo Vallecano striker Radamel Falcao will lead Colombia's squad for friendlies against Guatemala and Mexico in the United States, the South American country's football federation said on Thursday.

Manager Nestor Lorenzo also included veteran Al Nassr goalkeeper David Ospina, Juventus winger Juan Cuadrado and Eintracht Frankfurt striker Rafael Santos Borre in his 26-man squad.

Colombia will play Guatemala in New Jersey on September 24 and Mexico in Santa Clara, California, three days later.

Lorenzo has said he will use the matches to help prepare for the South American zone's 2026 World Cup qualifiers, expected to begin in June.

Colombia missed a berth at this year's FIFA World Cup in Qatar after finishing sixth in the regional qualifying tournament.

Colombia squad:

Goalkeepers: David Ospina, Camilo Vargas, Alvaro Montero.

Defenders: Daniel Munoz, Stefan Medina, Carlos Cuesta, Davinson Sanchez, Jhon Lucumi, Andre Llinas, Johan Mojica, Frank Fabra.

Midfielders: Wilmar Barrios, Jefferson Lerma, Steven Alzate, Yairo Moreno, Matheus Uribe, James Rodriguez, Juan Guillermo Cuadrado, Jorge Carrascal.
