BANDAR SERI BEGAWAN, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- South Korea and Brunei will resume direct flights between Bandar Seri Begawan and Incheon soon, said South Korean Ambassador to Brunei Kim Soung-eun.

According to the local daily Borneo Bulletin on Thursday, the ambassador said that before the pandemic, South Korea ranked fifth in terms of the number of international tourist arrivals to Brunei.

"I expect a lot of Koreans will visit Brunei again," he said during the reception for South Korea's National Foundation Day held in the capital.

The ambassador also said the diplomatic relationship between Brunei and South Korea has been friendly since the sultanate's independence in 1984.

Brunei served as the coordinating country for South Korea in the ASEAN mechanism for three years until August 2021. "Brunei played its role very well in connecting Korea with ASEAN," Kim said. Enditem
