Late Ortegoza strike hands Talleres victory over River Plate

BUENOS AIRES, Sept. 24 (Xinhua) -- Diego Ortegoza scored in the 92nd minute as Talleres Cordoba clinched a dramatic 1-0 away victory over River Plate in Argentina's Primera Division on Saturday.

The 25-year-old midfielder ran more than half the length of the pitch before firing a low shot from the edge of the 18-yard box that rebounded in off the right post.

Talleres have now won three and drawn one of their past four games and are 20th in the 28-team standings with 25 points. River Plate, meanwhile, are sixth with 32 points, seven points behind leaders Boca Juniors.

Meanwhile, a second-half strike from Leandro Benegas fired Independiente to a 1-0 home win over Newell's Old Boys.

It was the fourth consecutive league victory for Julio Falcioni's men, who are now 16th in the standings with 27 points. Newell's Old Boys are 10th with 29 points.

In other Primera Division fixtures on Saturday, Lanus won 2-0 at home to San Lorenzo, Sarmiento secured a 2-0 home win over Arsenal Sarandi and Defensa y Justicia prevailed 2-1 at home to Patronato. Enditem
