PARIS, Sept. 28 (Xinhua) -- France's household confidence index dropped to 79 in September, 3 points lower than in August, the French National Institute of Statistics and Economic Studies (INSEE) announced on Wednesday.

According to the INSEE, the proportion of households who consider that the standards of living have improved over the past twelve months fell slightly, and those who think the standards of living will improve over the next twelve months also decreased distinctly.

Amid the energy crisis and high inflation, the households' fears about unemployment and the rise of prices over the next twelve months both increased significantly, the institute added.

The household confidence index was compiled by the INSEE with surveys done with about 2,000 households by telephone. Answers to September's survey were collected between Aug. 29 to Sept. 19, 2022. Enditem
