Hapoel Jerusalem beat Darussafaka in basketball's Champions League

JERUSALEM, Oct. 3 (Xinhua) -- Israeli club Hapoel Jerusalem defeated Turkish side Darussafaka 69-67 at home in the opening evening of the four-team Group E in the FIBA Basketball Champions League on Monday.

Darussafaka took the lead 41-39 at the break. The close game continued in the third quarter, ending 55-53 for the Turkish side, and throughout the decisive quarter as well.

With 13 seconds to go and Hapoel Jerusalem leading 68-67, Ozdemiroglu committed an offensive foul and Carrington scored one of two from the line.

As Markel Starks missed a long range three-pointer with two seconds left, the local team sealed the victory.

Carrington scored 17 points for Jerusalem while Randolph contributed 13 points. Gabriel Olaseni scored a team-high 14 points for Darussafaka.

Jerusalem's next game will also be played at home, against Ludwigsburg, while Darussafaka will host the Bakken Bears, with both games to be played on October 19. Enditem
