MADRID, Oct. 5 (Xinhua) -- Spain and Portugal confirmed on Wednesday that they will include Ukraine in their bid to host the 2030 World Cup finals.

The Spanish and Portuguese Prime Ministers Pedro Sanchez and Antonio Costa confirmed the decision with tweets on Wednesday afternoon.

"We have already shown our capacity to organize top-level events: Spain and Portugal are prepared to host, together with Ukraine, the 2030 World Cup. A championship for peace. The best for sport and the best European values," tweeted both leaders.

Meanwhile the respective Football Federations also confirmed they had decided to "incorporate the Ukrainian Football Association (UAF) into the Iberian Bid to organize the 2030 World Cup."

The Federations added that "the proposal has the unconditional support of UEFA in a global project that transforms European football in an exceptional situation."

The communique adds that the move will not alter the original plans for host cities and that "Spain maintains its 11 host cities and Portugal will continue with three."

The Spanish have so far named eight stadiums to host matches: Santiago Bernabeu and Metropolitano Stadium (Madrid), Camp Nou and RCDE Stadium (Barcelona), along with San Mames (Bilbao), the Reale Arena (San Sebastian), La Cartuja (Seville) and the Nuevo Mestalla (Valencia).

Other cities hoping to host games are: Murcia, Zaragoza, Vigo, Gijon, Malaga and Las Palmas. Enditem
