SYDNEY, Oct. 7 (Xinhua) -- China smashed the Northern Mariana Islands (NMI) 11-0 on Friday in Shepparton, Australia, claiming their second consecutive win in the AFC U-17 Asian Cup 2023 qualifiers.
Wang Yudong came off the bench in the second half, pocketing a game-high four goals, while Zhang Junjie and Liu Chengyu netted two apiece.
China dominated from the start. Huang Kaijun opened the scoring in the 13th minute, and Zhang Junjie slotted home into an empty net in the 26th minute. Liu Chengyu, Mei Shuaijun and Wang Haobin also contributed to China's 7-0 lead at half-time.
In the second half, NMI's goalkeeper managed to block China's shots several times, but Wang Yudong came on in the 53rd minute and scored a hat-trick in less than 30 minutes, helping China hit the double-digit mark, and another goal in stoppage time locked up China's 11-0 victory.
"I am quite satisfied with my performance today, and I need to concentrate on the rest of the matches," said Wang.
