MEXICO CITY, Oct. 10 (Xinhua) -- Amaury Escoto converted the decisive spot-kick as Puebla advanced to Mexico's Liga MX quarterfinals on Sunday by beating Guadalajara 5-4 on penalties.

The 29-year-old forward capitalized on Jesus Angulo's missed attempt to set up a clash with Club America, with the first leg to be played at Puebla's Estadio Cuauhtemoc on Wednesday.

Israel Reyes, Guillermo Ayala, Federico Mancuello and Diego de Buen also held their nerve in the shootout for the hosts while Angel Zaldivar, Santiago Ormeno, Alan Mozo and Alexis Vega converted for the visitors.

Earlier, Carlos Cisnero forced the match into a dramatic finale by slotting home a 96th-minute equalizer after Martin Barragan had put Puebla ahead just before the hour.

In Sunday's only other playoff, Toluca booked a place in the last eight with a 3-0 home win over Juarez. Enditem
