JERUSALEM, Oct. 11 (Xinhua) -- Israeli champions Hapoel Holon defeated Belgian champions B.C. Oostende 88-83 in Group C of the FIBA Basketball Champions League on Tuesday evening.
At the end of gameday 2, Holon have a 2-0 win record, as do Galatasaray, who beat Legia Warsaw 86-71 in Türkiye. The Belgian and Polish teams remain winless so far.
Oostende dominated the opening minutes of the game, played at Toto Arena, and took a 24-20 lead by the end of the first quarter, thanks to points by Breein Tyree and Keye van der Vuurst de Vries.
Joe Ragland inspired Holon to get back into the game, with points and assists, on the way to a 40-40 draw at halftime.
Three-pointers by Tyree helped Oostende take a 54-47 lead in the 25th minute, and Tre'shawn Thurman widened the gap to 67-57 before the third quarter ended at 67-61 for the Belgians.
However, unstoppable Ragland brought Holon back to the game and scored important points in the decisive minutes to secure the win.
Ragland scored a game-high 31 points and added 13 assists. His teammate Chris Johnson scored 17 points, while Marvin Jones contributed 14 points and 10 rebounds.
Tyree scored 26 for Oostende, while Thurman added 22 points.
Holon will next play against Galatasaray at home, while Legia will host Oostende, with both games to be played on October 26. Enditem
