MEXICO CITY, Oct. 12 (Xinhua) -- Club America took a giant step toward securing a place in the Liga MX semifinals with a 6-1 away win over Puebla in the first leg of their quarterfinal on Wednesday.
Henry Martin struck twice while Diego Valdes, Alejandro Zendejas, Brian Rodriguez and Federico Vinas were also on target for the Mexico City-based club. Jordi Cortizo was on the scoresheet for the hosts.
The second leg will be played at Club America's Aztec Stadium on Saturday.
In the other quarterfinal first leg played on Wednesday, Cruz Azul were held to a goalless home draw by Monterrey.
Thursday's schedule of quarterfinal first-leg matches will see Toluca host Santos Laguna and Pachuca visit Tigres UANL. Enditem
